DORM SERIES: PT 2
I am continuing with my dorm room series on the blog! This time though I am sharing not the essentials but things you can add to your room to make it feel decorated and well, not like a small, wooden, (probably) ugly dorm room.
There are so many dorm inspiration pictures out there, but so many things are not realistic to have in your dorm room. You most likely aren't going to have a planter with giant green plants growing, you can't nail anything onto your walls, and you don't have that much space to make it look like the PB teen dorm rooms. But there are some things you can do to really help make your room come together and look nicer than what it actually is.
Wall Art/Posters
Making a gallery wall for your room is something that can add color and style to your dorm. It can show off things you are interested as well make your room look more put together. I love looking at the website Society6 for wall art inspiration. Choosing prints with the same color pattern can make it all go together nicely, or you can change up the frames on the art for more of a unique look.
Here are some of my favorites:

Map Idea
If you travel a lot or hope to travel more in the future, finding a map and putting pins in all the places you dream of going or have gone is a fun way to spice up your dorm room. It is motivation to work hard so you can travel one day and you can even include your roommates travels in it as well. Hang it above your desk or above your bed for a cute yet sophisticated look.

Add Removable Wallpaper to your desk
Most college dorms have a lot of wood furniture in them. A fun way to cover some of the wood up if it is not your style is to cover your desktop in removable wallpaper. They make thousands of different patterns, so you can decorate it to best fit your dorm room. The best thing is, you can take it off without any damage to the desk. TIP: If when applying the wallpaper you acquire air bubbles, use a credit card to push the air bubbles to the end of your desk.

Add a Tapestry
Tapestries are a pretty wall to cover wall space in your dorm if you want an alternative to hanging wall art. They come in a variety of sizes and are a great way to make your dorm room feel more like your room at home. Here are some of my top picks if you wanted to add a tapestry to your dorm.

Rugs!!!
If you are going to a school in a colder climate, consider getting a rug for your room so your feet are not freezing when rolling out of bed onto the hardwood floors. There are so many decorative rugs that can make your whole space come together, plus your feet will thank you on those cold winter mornings. Also, I have done some research and the most popular size for a rug in college is 5x8. I would recommend getting a darker color rug just so you don't get it super dirty.

Flowers
Now, constantly getting real flowers is not in the cards for many, and if it is you need a round of applause. First of all, they are expensive and what college student is going to remember to take out the dead flowers that have only lasted a few days because there is very little direct sunlight in their room. However, having some fake flowers or succulents in your room and make it look brighter and more feminine.

Mason Jars!
Mason jars are not very expensive and can be a great way to hold pens, pencils, hairbrushes, etc. A cute way to accessorize them is to spray paint them gold, silver, or rose gold. They are great for organization and a metallic color can be the perfect thing to spice up your dorm room. You can also use mason jars for your cups to keep in your room.

Photo Clip String Lights
I like how these string lights incorporate lighting but also a way to hang your photos. I have them up in my room right now and without even turning the lights on they add so much to your room. This is a great way to cover wall space and add
photos from back home to your room.

Embroidery

Adding a piece of embroidery into your room is another way to add art to your dorm. It is different than a poster or gallery wall and can add more of a homey look to your space. You can have your initials embroidered or a fun pattern. The options are endless!

Floral Wall
If you are more of a girly girl, having a floral garland on your wall might be the perfect decoration for your dorm. They are commonly used for weddings or special events, but hanging a garland is a way to make your room look brighter and elegant. Plus, it is a pretty way to take up wall space. They come in a variety of sizes too so if you want one that doesn't take up as much room, you are able to do that too.
