Before I dive into talking about the best dressed of this years 2018 Golden Globes, I wanted to share what I thought of the event...

Watching the Golden Globes this year was not just about seeing what actors, actresses, directors, and movies won special awards celebrating their strength, but about a new era where women are beginning to be treated equally to the men around them. The controversial Times Up movement inspired many of the nominees and guests to wear black, a sign that abuse and sexual harassment are no longer acceptable in the world of Hollywood and all other industries.

Being a 17-year-old girl, this was an important moment in history for me. Hearing Oprah's speech about speaking your truth only makes me want to stand up for what is right and not let anyone take my voice or power away from me or others. It is 2018, and I am excited to see what change is made for women not only on the political and social side but the empowerment that will come because of it.

Let's make it known that women are unstoppable. Soon, they will be nominated for best director for a motion picture instead of the typical white male. Women of color will be given larger roles and nominated for best actress, not the best-supporting actress. This is a year of change, so buckle up boys, because this is OUR time to shine. #TimesUP

Here are my Top Eight dresses (like for 2018, haha) from the night. They are not in particular order because I could not pick! Let me know what you think in the comments at the bottom of this page.

1. Zoe Kravitz

Zoe looks beautiful in this simple black strapless gown paired with emerald earrings. I think simplicity is key when it comes to award shows like this and she truly looked elegant. She is wearing Saint Laurent.

2. Issa Rae

She wins. Issa looks stunning this in custom Prabal Gurung gown. The slit is sexy yet not too high and she pulls off the deep-v beautifully. Once again, an emerald accessory is worn, but this time it is a long chained necklace. Maybe emerald is making a comeback?

3. Hong Chau

Hong certainly looked elegant in this dress with a lace insert. For her first Golden Globes appearance, she rocked it and designers will definitely be calling her agents so they can design her next dress. Also, her punchline was one of the greatest lines ever said at the Globes.

4. Frankie Shaw

This dress is one of my favorites because it is soft yet dark at the same time. It almost looks like a Victorian dress and there is something about it that I can not get over. It is a J. Mendel gown. The only thing that could have added to this look is a diamond necklace just so her neck did not look so bare.

5. Emilia Clarke

After seeing Emilia walk down in her gorgeous black gown, it made me want to start watching Game of Thrones just because of how stunning she is. This v cut dress with a bow insert looked perfect on her and her hair cut worked perfectly with the dress. 10/10 for whoever styled her for this event. She is wearing Miu Miu.

6. Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee is wearing a satin Marc Jacobs halter dress with matching headwrap. She stole the carpet with this look and it was a show stopper of the night. The red lip brings out her gorgeous skin tone and complements the gown.

7. Angelina Jolie

Although Angelina looks a little bit like she is going to a funeral for the bird that died for the feathers on this gown, she honestly pulls it off. Even though it is more of a conservative and vintage looking dress the sheer detailing is truly a work of art. Her hair is normally down at events like this, so it was nice to see it pulled back and be envious of her amazing skin at age 42. She is wearing Atelier Versace.

8. Kerry Washington

She looked beautiful in this sparkly strapless gown. If I had to change anything about this dress, I would have gone for a different shoe, maybe a strappy pump instead of this embellished pointy toe. Overall, no one can really compete with Kerry Washington. She is wearing Prabal Gurung.

There you have it, my top eight looks from the 2018 Golden Globes!
